Who Makes DuraSurf™?
DuraSurf™ is manufactured by Crown
Plastics Co., in Harrison, Ohio. Since it began in 1972, Crown has
become the world's leading producer of thin gauge ultra high
molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) in the world, and the only
company manufacturing this material on an exclusive basis.
Crown Plastics is
divided into four main areas of business. The general industrial
market is serviced through over 500 distributors worldwide, the
largest group of which are in the U.S. and Canada. This area
services thousands of orders per year for countless applications and
products including pressure sensitive materials, cut to size, and
stamped parts.
The OEM part of Crown
directly serves very large, sophisticated industries and
applications such as automotive, appliance, agriculture, and
railroad markets with products that are designed to meet unique
specifications provided by the customer. Quality and service are our
hallmarks in serving these industries where customer-dedicated
performance is not an option.
Crown supplies DuraSurf™
to the snowsports market with its sintered base materials. A major
supplier to every North American snowboard manufacturer, Crown has
quickly become the largest and highest quality producer of sintered
base in the world. This reputation has spread from snowsports to
wakeboard and kiteboard industries as well.
The fourth area is
actually a support group for the other three, that being the
engineering and development department. These individuals are
charged with finding new and better processes and products, to
constantly keep Crown Plastics on the leading edge of technology for
the markets in which we participate. It is our success in this area
that will determine our future, for although we manufacture UHMW,
our product is service.
